S&rsquo;il influen\u00e7a par ses \u00e9crits certains auteurs de son temps, on lui pr\u00eata, toutefois, moins de rigueur et de talent que ce dernier.\u00a0Rabelais \u00e9crivit m\u00eame de lui qu&rsquo;il \u00e9tait \u00ab\u00a0<em>baveux comme un pot de moutarde<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb ( <strong>Molinier Auguste<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.persee.fr\/doc\/shf_0000-0000_1904_num_4_1_964_t1_0192_0000_6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">L&rsquo;Histoire de France 1904, T4<\/a>\u00a0 ).\u00a0Quant \u00e0 son impartialit\u00e9, notre auteur n&rsquo;\u00e9chappa pas \u00e0 la r\u00e8gle, maintes fois v\u00e9rifi\u00e9e, mais encore bien plus manifeste dans le courant du moyen-\u00e2ge, qui veut que l&rsquo;Histoire ait toujours un point de vue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cela \u00e9tant dit, ce\u00a0qui nous int\u00e9resse aujourd&rsquo;hui, n&rsquo;est pas tant\u00a0le r\u00e9cit du chroniqueur que cette <em>complainte du pauvre commun<\/em> qu&rsquo;il ne fait que retranscrire, sans l&rsquo;attribuer, et qui n&rsquo;est pas de sa plume.\u00a0Dans son ouvrage<em><strong> La Satire en France au Moyen-\u00c2ge<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(1893) <strong>Charles Felix Lenient<\/strong>\u00a0rapproche ce texte, son ton satirique et une part de son inspiration du <em>Quadrilogue Invectif<\/em> d&rsquo;<strong>Alain Chartier, <\/strong>mais il\u00a0h\u00e9site tout de m\u00eame \u00e0 lui en attribuer, de mani\u00e8re certaine, la paternit\u00e9. Elle demeure, en tout cas, non sign\u00e9e, dans les <em>Chroniques d&rsquo;Enguerrand<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mis\u00e8res des laboureurs &amp; temps troubl\u00e9s<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dat\u00e9e du d\u00e9but du XVe si\u00e8cle, cette po\u00e9sie r\u00e9aliste nous conte le triste sort de nombre de paysans\u00a0 saign\u00e9s par la guerre de cent ans, les pillages, les disettes et les taxes. Sous la pression des \u00e9v\u00e9nements, certains en furent m\u00eame r\u00e9duits \u00e0 fuir les campagnes, tristes hordes de familles en guenilles, mendiant dans les villes, pour subsister. Cette complainte en est rest\u00e9e le t\u00e9moin. Ces \u00ab\u00a0pauvres communs et laboureurs\u00a0\u00bb en appelaient alors \u00e0 la charit\u00e9 de tous, dans l&rsquo;indiff\u00e9rence g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, s&rsquo;il faut en croire ces vers. Sous la complainte, la menace planait aussi clairement puisqu&rsquo;ils y mettaient en garde les seigneurs et le roi\u00a0 des cons\u00e9quences f\u00e2cheuses o\u00f9\u00a0 cette\u00a0 indiff\u00e9rence pourrait les conduire: effondrement du royaume par sa base,\u00a0 d&rsquo;abord, mais plus loin menace ouverte de r\u00e9volte incendiaire ou m\u00eame encore\u00a0 d\u00e9sertion du pays. Ses accents vibrants de sinc\u00e9rit\u00e9\u00a0 lui conf\u00e8re une place tr\u00e8s particuli\u00e8re dans la po\u00e9sie satirique et r\u00e9aliste du moyen-\u00e2ge.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1
